Hey. Hi. Hello!
Let me just start by saying it has BEEN A WEEKEND. I went down to Orlando to visit some friends and celebrate Halloweekend. But, more importantly, THE SOX WON THE FUCKING WORLD SERIES. The amount of “congrats” texts I received in the last 12 hours would make it seem like I had a hand in their success. I’m pissed I didn’t go to LA this weekend because ticket prices ended up dropping so much, but maybe it’s for the best because I cried when they won last night, and I didn’t need to be *that girl* in the stadium.
Anyway, November is almost upon us. Boston still has three more sports teams that are looking to Do Damage, so get prepared for more sports rants to come. However, that’s not what this is about. As spoopy szn comes to a close, myself and every other *beauty guru* out there is now going to bombard you with the things we enjoyed this past month.
As always, it’s not an extensive list, but it is a list of 10 great things that I’m going to try and convince you to buy. But don’t worry, none of those links are affiliate links, I just genuinely want you to spend your own money to live your best life. Now let’s dive in.
I’ve used Zero Gravity phone cases since high school. Yeah, I’m a trend setter, whatever. I had a phone case by them in college that had a gold mirrored section as part of the design, and man it was the greatest thing ever knowing that I could just stare at myself for hours by flipping over my phone. Then, I got the Iphone X and everything changed. They released a complete gold mirrored phone case. Not only is it aesthetic AF, but it’s also super handy.
Whenever you go out, you won’t always have a mirror on you, but you should most likely always have your phone on you. NOW YOU CAN HAVE BOTH. It’s great for making sure I don’t have food in my teeth after lunch, or that my red lipstick hasn’t smeared onto my forehead again. Or for just generally vanity reasons.
I’ve gone through 4 of these cases now because I’m notoriously bad at keeping my phone from falling. I’ve tried to venture into other cases, but keep running back to this gem. They have it for every Iphone model except the XS Plus.
I ran out of perfume a few weeks ago, and decided this was going to be my new scent after testing it out with their roller ball. So, I go online to Sephora, add it into an order, and wait for it to arrive. Then, when it finally arrives, I’m unboxing it in my bathroom AND DROP IT. THE DAMN THING SHATTERS EVERYWHERE. It’s been two weeks since and my bathroom still smells like this.
But, that didn’t stop me. Instead of emailing customer service and trying to get a new one like a sensible person would do, I just placed another order. I dropped it out of the box again, but don’t worry it didn’t shatter, and I’ve been using it to death.
It smells floral and musky all at the same time, and just really gives me some great warm fall vibes. I’ve mentioned before that I honestly love any fragrance they release, but this may be a contender for MVP.
We should all know by know that I love their Jet Lag mask. It’s the only thing that will stop me from looking like I have a hangover, and works so well after the Indian Healing Clay mask. But, now it’s time that we meet her sister.
Unlike the Jet Lag mask, this one functions like a normal mask in that you have to wash it off after the alloted time. It also just smells so incredible the first time I put it on I wanted to just bottle it up, or eat it, I couldn’t decide which.
This mask is an exfoliating and brightening mask, so it does feel slightly more abbrasive than a normal mask when you apply it, but it truly works. I used it last night to try and help recover from a nasty hangover and a long flight, and let me tell you my skin felt amazing after. I’m not sure if it replaces the Jet Lag mask, but get back to me in a couple of weeks and I’ll let you know.
This was one of the products I tested about two months ago, and have just started getting into using it daily now. My skin had been breaking out a little since I stopped a diet, and I was finding that my Shape Tape foundation was just not covering up the reddness and spots like I would’ve wanted.
I was nervous to use this foundation at first because I remember that one time I used it and then it sweated off by the end of the day, but I just crossed my fingers that it would say on with the primer I was using, and let me tell you, it did! It looked amazing all day. While it didn’t completely cover the mountain growing DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FACE, it did do a good job at concealing it a little.
I also forgot how smoothly it applied. It’s easy to blend, doesn’t really oxidize at all, and apparently will now withstand a night of dancing and drinking in a crowded Orlando bar, so that’s always a win in my book.
This is a controversial product apparently, because not many people like the watery consistency of it. I mean, especially when you compare it to the Shape Tape it really pales in comparison. However, I’m not using it to replace the Shape Tape, because let’s be honest nothing will do that. I’m using it instead to cover up acne spots.
When I do have a spot I want to cover up, I don’t want to reach for a full-coverage concealer because it really just makes it look like a cakey mess. Instead, I prefer this product. It still has really good coverage, but doesn’t feel like it’s adding any weight because it is a water-based product.
It blends out super well too, and doesn’t fade throughout the day as long as I can remember to stop picking at my face. Big fan of this, has definitely come in clutch on many occasions.
Listen fam. I’m not coming out here to preach about sustainability and saving the planet or anything. But, I’m not NOT doing that. All I’m saying is that I think maybe we as a collective species need to start just caring a little bit more about how our daily lives are impacting the environment??
Anyway, plastic straws have come under fire in recent months for harming the environment, and especially in association with turtles. So, I’m sure you’ve seen a resurgence of reusable straws cropping up everywhere.
What it is is basically a small carrying case for a little metal straw that you can literally carry anywhere with you. I brought it out with me this weekend because I planned to drink anything but beer and didn’t want to use any plastic straws (spoiler alert I only drank beer because that’s who I am).
While I know not everyone is going to give up plastic straws, I think this is a great find for those of you who want to make a change. They’re only like $12 for something you can use forever. Would recommend.
I hate wearing my hair down. But I also hate wearing my hair up because by the time I come home and take my hair out, it’ll poof out in that way that it does when you’ve had it in a ponytail all day long, ladies you know what I’m talking about. These have now changed my life.
I used to have a bunch of them back when I played soccer, but then lost them all, probably by giving them out to teammates. However, they’re truly great for doing what they say: for not leaving creases.
I’ll be honest with you, they don’t wrap as tight as normal hair elastics, and the knot in them sometimes looks weird sticking out of the top of your head, but once you get past that they’re really amazing. I especially love using them to chuck my hair up into a bun and will just use some bobby pins to secure it down.
Honestly, I don’t know why I purchased this because I don’t really ever file my nails, but it just seemed like a good thing to have? It’s getting cold out here now, like we really just skipped the fall weather and have gone right to winter. This means my hands are looking BUSTED and my nails chip 1000 times easier. Everyone always says a glass nail file is the best for your nails, so since I would like to try and take care of them this szn, I invested in one.
Now I find myself filing my nails whenever I’m just sitting around watching TV. This isn’t as abbrasive as regular nail files or emory boards, and is instead just so relaxing to use. It shapes the nails really well without leaving any annoying nail residue behind that just sits under the nail, ya know what I’m talking about? It’s definitely not something you need, but I I’m also not going to tell you to not buy it.
Listen ya’ll, I’m on a sustainability kick this month. I bought a voice-activated recyling trash can, reusable straws, really just so many things. I figured there had got to be something more sustainble for cotton rounds, and turns out I was right.
While I mainly used cotton rounds for removing my nail polish, I do use them for my micellar water everynight. These can’t be used with nail polish remover because that doesn’t wash out so good, but they are great for the micellar water. Plus, it comes with a little bag that you chuck everything into and then throw in the washing machine to clean them. It’s nice to know I’m not blowing through a whole stack of cotton rounds that’ll just end up in a dump somewhere. If only they made something similar for the nails.
I told my boss that I bought this, and she laughed at me, because honestly it’s a funny concept. This is marketed as “reusable utensils” which is really just a fancy way of saying silverware. And that’s basically what it is. Except they’re duochrome so they look just a lot better than normal cuttlery.
At work, we have an employee lounge that has plastic utensils to use when you eat food, which I do everyday. However, when I bought the reusable straw, I saw these in my recommend section on Amazon and didn’t know why I didn’t think of buying these before.
It comes with your normal utensils, along with chopsticks, two different types of reusable straws, and a cleaning wand for said straws. The best part is they come in a little pouch that you can take with you anywhere. I throw this into my work bag so that I’ll always have them with me, and they make me happy because they’re both pretty and helping just a little to save the environment.
Well, that’s it for me. I hope you enjoyed, and maybe you’ll pick up something I talked about. Let me know what you’ve been loving this month in the comments below, I’d love to try out new things!
Until Next Time!
